I’m Nicky, wife to Mark and mother to Madeline. I am an American living in the UK, a hobbyist photographer, a student of biology, a science enthusiast, a book addict, an atheist, a gamer, and a super nerd. I live for good books paired with great cups of coffee, spending time with my husband and daughter, learning new things, taking photos, going on adventures, pints at the pub with friends, and occasionally playing video games much too late into the evening.
I met my British husband in World of Warcraft, he the valiant paladin and myself the mystical druid, and we decided to meet in person a few months after meeting in game. After a year and a half back and forth in a long distance relationship he swept me off my feet and made me his wife on a rainy day in October (2007), and I moved from Cincinnati Ohio to the UK just a few months later.
On Mark’s birthday in 2009 we were surprised when a pregnancy test told us we were expecting. In the summer of 2010 Madeline came into our lives; she completes our family and completely rocks our world.
Life is hectic, though in a good way. I’m mostly a stay at home mom and homemaker, but I also work two days a week and go to school. I currently attend university part time, obtaining my bachelors in biology, which I plan to pursue to the doctorate level. Some days it’s a tough balancing act, but I wouldn’t trade the challenge for anything.
Our lives are apart of this amazing adventure of love, parenthood, living abroad, nerdom, finding each other and finding ourselves. This blog is a place to store the treasures we find and to share them with loved ones.
