Dors bien mon amour, je t’aime.

(pic is a bit blurred, but couldn’t resist!)

Two weeks ago I woke up at 8am and realized that Miss Moo, sleeping beauty, had not called for me at 5am and she is usually a very punctual little lady.  Apparently she had decided that she no longer required her breakfast at sunrise and moved it back to the more reasonable 8am-9am time slot and forgot to send me the memo.

And its been a wondrous two weeks.

I was almost afraid to mention it for the fear of jinxing the good fortune.  At the same time she made the decision to sleep in a little longer we switched her bedtime from 11pm to 10pm and it worked perfectly.  All we had to do is start the bedtime routine an hour earlier and she went down at 10pm the first night without complaint and every night since (some nights at 9:30pm, just depending on how tired she is).

So, for a little longer than two weeks now the Moochatron has slept peacefully from 10pm to 8am and I cannot help but feel so blessed to have such an easygoing baby.  I get three hours each night to read, game, watch movies and cuddle up on the sofa with the hubby.

Blessed.

A comparison.

You never see them in the same room together is all I’m sayin’.

The weight update: four weeks.

Today marks four weeks since I began doing a number of things in an effort to get fit and lose weight.  I thought I’d do an update log every four weeks  for progress. Four weeks ago I joined myfitnesspal.com and it has been an amazing resource.  I’ve been tracking my weigh ins and measurements, counting calories, and garnering support and answers from the community.  Having a log to properly track my calories has made me conscious as to what I eat.

In addition to counting calories, I’ve also fulfilled (or I am in the constant process of fulfilling) my promise to myself to learn to cook whilst on maternity leave.  I’ve taken over the meals and the grocery shopping from Mark and began ordering  online what I needed with each meal for the week planned out (and also… online grocery shopping and delivery? Greatest thing since sliced bread!).  I’m making us healthy meals from fresh ingredients and, loe and behold, I actually enjoy doing it as well. My greatest concern at the moment is not dropping below a certain number of calories either.  I make sure that I factor in extra calories for breastfeeding, as I do not want my dieting to affect my milk supply.   I want to lose weight, but I am not about to survive on salads and water… my baby’s milk is too important for that.

The third thing I have changed is I have begun working out.  I’m currently on level 2 of Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred (doing each level for two weeks instead of 10 days) and after I reach the end of the 30 Day Shred I have Hip Hop Abs and Brazil Booty Lift lined up to alternate between.  This started as a desire to see the number on the scale become smaller and smaller but I think I’m going to make this into a challenge: how fit can I become?  I’ve noticed the muscle building up and I like it, let’s see how far I can go.

So, rambling over, here are my results thus far:

-In four weeks I have lost 5.6 lbs. I didn’t expect the scale to have moved at all due to the fact I am building up loads of muscle.

-In three weeks (I started measuring from week 2 and not week 1) I have lost 3 inches from my hips, 3 inches from my waist, 2.5 inches from each thigh and 0.5 inches from each arm.

-I went from not being able to get my pre pregnancy jeans over my thighs in week one, to being able to get them up but not buttoned in week 2, to being able to wear them in week 3, and now in week 4 there is even a little spare room ^_^

Even though my goal initially was to lose about ten pounds a month, I am pleased with the results I’ve had.  I’ve come up 4.4 lbs short of the goal this month, but I’ve gained LOADS of muscle… and the measurements confirm that I am indeed losing mass.  Right now, my goal is to lose 45lbs, and now I have 39lbs to go!    And, at my current weight, I am 30lbs lighter than I was in my last week of pregnancy.

I am excited to see where this goes.
